Spring is Just Around the Corner!

Today as the snow is falling lightly on the ground and the birds are coming to the feeder its time to think of those warmer days ahead when the migrating birds start to make their return trip northwards. Think of the sunshine, the large numbers of colourful birds and getting out to enjoy that time of year with other friendly birders. The Huron Fringe Birding Festival in late May and early June is an ideal event to satisfy all those thoughts and as luck would have it……. you can now look over the 2019 festival schedule of events right here. http://friendsofmacgregor.org/page/schedule-of-events .
The time to register for the festival is March 1st to May 23rd 2019 so it gives you some time to peruse the events and see which ones interest you. There are several to consider as there are almost 100 events to check out and excellent leaders for each of these interesting events. The range covers birding, botany, photography, history of the area as well as other topics. The keynote speakers at this year’s dinner are Mike and Ken Burrell speaking about some of the best places in Ontario to find interesting birds.

Head to this link http://friendsofmacgregor.org/page/huron-fringe-birding-festival and click on the Huron Fringe Birding Festival tab to see what birds have been seen during other festivals, leader biographies, and other interesting links. Then sit and dream about getting out again in that warm spring weather with your binoculars, scope and camera handy to enjoy some colourful birds or landscapes.
