After the usual summer hiatus the HFBF Committee gathered to discuss progress, planning and potential new directions for the upcoming Festival.

The 2015 Program Team has taken the approach of bringing back popular events while working on introducing new leaders and events. An exciting blend of the familiar and new will be the highlight of the festival when the program is first revealed on-line ( January 15, 2015 and on this blog. That’s when you’ll get a full description of each event so you can begin pre-planning and be ready for on-line registration February 1, 2015.

Last year some events sold out within the first few days, so pre-selection will help you secure the hikes and presentations you want.

While the final program is still in the works we can tell you that Michael Carlson, Mark Wiercinski, Justin Peters, Mike Burrell, and Larry Lamb, to name a few, will be back. Newcomers Willy Waterton and Audrey Armstrong will join them. As will Sarah Rupert from Point Pelee and Scott Taylor who is a Post Doctoral Associate at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Birding 101 is being introduced for all those who want to start learning how to watch birds.

A Family Package, including family birding and an evening campfire program, is now in the preliminary planning stage.

That’s a brief preview of what’s in store for you at HFBF. More to come.

The full program will be available on-line January 15th 2015 on the Friends of MacGregor website at: Registration starts on February 1st 2015.

Be sure to mark your calendars with next year’s dates…22nd May to 25th May and 28th May to 31st May 2015.
